Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter Weekend. Whit and Jaynie were both home on Friday for Good Friday and we really enjoyed the extra day. Friday Jaynie, Lillie and Eliza went to Horton Hears a Who with our friends Carmen and Lauren. They loved the movie and it was extra special to be able to go with Lauren. Thanks Carmen and Lauren. We love you guys. That night Whit went on a bike ride and we ate Chipolte with some friends. It was a great lazy day.

On Saturday all the Easter festivities began. I got up at 7:30 a.m. and went on a Easter Scavenger Run with my friends Kim and Marcia. It was a lot of fun. It was a 2.75 mile run to different locations and at each location you had to answer a trivia question or do a silly stunt in order to get the clue to the next location. It was such a fun way to get in my exercise for the day.

That afternoon we had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt. It was a lot of fun. The girls loved it. Here are a few snapshots from the big event.

This is how Addie spent the Hunt-Smiling in the stroller.
Saturday night we dyed Easter eggs. The girls got pretty creative.

Sunday of course we went to church. Whit didn't have to go to meetings until 8:00 a.m. so he was home to help me for a little while, which was nice. The girls woke up and found their Easter baskets. They all got swim suits, jump ropes, and chocolate bunnies. They were pretty excited and I was excited that the Easter bunny brought them something that they needed:) They also got new white dresses for church. I think they looked pretty darn cute.

My new hair brush

I know this seems really weird that I would post about a hair brush, but I am in love. I have used a round brush all my life and have never really liked them until now. This brush is the best. When I first cut my hair short the stylist told me to use this brush, but I didn't get it because I have a round brush and I figured it would do the same thing, but this last time I got it cut I decided to try it and I can't believe the difference it makes. It is easier to use than my other cheap Walmart round brush and it got my hair much straighter much faster. Maybe people already know about this thing, but just in case there is someone like me that uses the old Walmart standby this post is for you. Buy this brush it will change your life. I found the home page for Spornette at http://www.spornette.com/dsnylon.html From there they have a link to locate a store that sells them. If you can't find them I will get you one and send it your way. I think it was 8 or 9 bucks. Well worth it.

Baby Addie Line

Eliza has moved up from calling Adeline "Baby Lion" to "Baby Addie Line" I kind of like it-it's much more southern when you say it like that.

Addie has two teeth

Adeline got her first tooth on Thursday March 6th and her second one poked through on Thursday March 13th. I am happy that they are finally through. I just hope she doesn't figure out how to bite.

Another lost tooth

Today at church Jaynie said, "Mom my loose tooth feels funny." I felt and it was hanging by a thread so I tried to push it and she winced so I stopped. I told her to do it and she did and out it popped right in the middle of the sacrament. We caused only a slight scene. She didn't cry, but it bled pretty bad and I didn't have any tissues so we had all the neighbors looking for some tissue. Finally the Welch's saved the day. It was pretty cute because she had this same grin on her face all through sacrament because she really wanted her Dad up on the stand to notice. He never did figure out what she was doing.

Lillie's Letters

Lillie is very into letters right now. She writes letters everywhere, and asks me to read what her "words" say. Today I found this 3x5 card on the kitchen table and I was so impressed because she had spelled a real word. Then it occurred to me that she had had life cereal that morning. I thought it was pretty cute and smart to copy the Life box. Lillie and I have not spent nearly as much time on letters and other school things as Jaynie and I did and I always feel so guilty, but she obviously is picking it up somehow. What a bright kid I have.

Thanks Susie

Susie Delozier, our dear friend from North Carolina that now lives in Utah, sent us this poncho and hat that she made for Adeline and I have to say it is probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. Thanks so much Susie. We love you guys and miss you tons!!

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

To make up for my Horrible Mother award, I took Jaynie and Lillie to the play of "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad day" at the Winston Salem Children's Theatre on Saturday morning. I am embarrassed to say that I have lived here for almost 5 years and haven't ever taken my children. It was so much fun. We went with Kim, Jane and Kate and some other neighbors Christian, Marcia, and their two little girls Emilia and Carmen. The cast was just the five young college age kids in the picture above and the set was just a painted sheet and they carried in all their props and they played all the parts. The girls absolutely loved it and I have to say I thought it was hilarious. I think Whit's Dad would have loved this. Next time you are here Grandpa we will go. I thought of you the whole time.

An Exersaucer for Adeline or Eliza

We bought an exersaucer at a local clothing and toy exchange for Adeline and when we were buying it Whit joked that we could just keep Eliza in this all day. As soon as we brought it home guess who wanted to play in it? Miss Eliza. It entertained her for quite a while.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

On Saturday March 1st Jaynie's teacher invited us to have breakfast at the mall with the Easter Bunny. It was a lot of fun, but the girls had had a late night and then we had to get up and be to the mall by 8:30 a.m. so everyone was a bit tired. Eliza wasn't sure what to think of the Easter Bunny-you have to admit the idea of a giant bunny would be a little bit frightening for a little girl. The second picture has our neighbor and classmate Allie and Mrs. Wuwert and her son in it. Jaynie loved being able to eat breakfast with her teacher. It was fun to see her interact with her outside the classroom.

Worst Mom of the Day Award

Yesterday I won the worst mom of the day award. I got a phone call about 10:40 a.m. from Jaynie's teacher asking me if I was coming to eat lunch with Jaynie (they go to lunch at 10:30-crazy I know) I said no. I was in my exercise clothes, Addie was asleep and Lillie and Eliza were still in their PJs so there was no way I was going to make it before lunch was over at 11:00. Mrs. Wuwert then said, "Well Jaynie is here crying because she thought you were coming." I guess earlier in the week we had talked about me possibly coming in for lunch on Friday and Jaynie took it as gold and expected me to be there. I felt so horrible. Luckily Kim was there eating with Jane and so Jaynie got to sit with them, which normally they don't get to do because they aren't in the same class, so that made her pretty happy. The girls and I went into the school later and went and gave her a card and a coupon for a lunch date on Saturday. I guess the moral of the story is don't say maybe or we'll see because apparently that means yes.

Jaynie's field trip to the Olive Garden

On Friday Jaynie had a field trip to the Olive Garden and I got to go with her. It was a lot of fun. We got to eat lunch and tour the kitchen. Although after this experience I am not sure I want to see the kitchen of the places I like to eat. They had the biggest vat of soup I have ever seen and soup in that large of quantities just scares me:) Isn't this such a cute picture of me. I always knew there was a reason that I never worked in the food business-can you say ugh!! Eating lunch with Jaynie and her school friends was a great experience. She is such a social butterfly-every one loves Jaynie. If I ever go back to teaching, Kindergarten is where I want to be. The kids are still so innocent and sweet and learning is fun and exciting rather than a chore. I have really enjoyed volunteering in her classroom and I am so grateful that I am home so that I have those opportunities. There are so many mom's that don't get that chance. I am one lucky duck.

The big roll over

Today at church Adeline rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time and she did so in front of several witnesses. She is already a performer. I can't believe she is getting so big. I already miss the newborn stage (don't worry I don't miss it enough to have another newborn already) but she is at such a fun age right now. She grabs for toys and can really entertain herself for quite a while. She is such a happy baby and will smile at anyone who will talk to her. She is also trying really hard to cut her bottom two teeth. I am not excited for that, but will be glad when they break through just so she will stop drooling for a while.

Eliza

Eliza is at such a fun age. She is learning way too much from her older sisters and wants to do everything they do. It's pretty sweet. Lately she has said some of the cutest things. Her favorite new phrase is "no fair." Everything is "no fair" thanks to Jaynie. Another cute thing that she has picked up from Jaynie is "yes ma'am" Jaynie is becoming quite the southern belle and her teachers require her to say yes ma'am. So naturally she says it at home and Eliza thinks she is so big when she says it. At first I had a hard time with it because when I used to say yes ma'am I was being a smart alec, but here it a sign of respect and now I appreciate it and it is pretty cute. Whit thinks we better move before this southern belle thing gets any worse. Whits favorite thing Eliza says is When He asks how much she loves him her response is "up to the moon" of course it is much cutter with her baby accent. My favorite is what she calls Adeline, "baby Lion". She tries so hard to say baby Adeline but no matter what she does it comes out lion so now we all just call her that. What a sweetheart.
